Pisces — February 19 – March 20

Pisces closes the zodiac. After Aquarius has mapped the system, Pisces dissolves the lines it drew — between self and other, inner and outer, dream and waking. It feels the whole, often without being able to say how, and it carries the wisdom and the wound of porous boundaries.

Pisces is ruled by Neptune (and, in older astrology, by Jupiter) — the planet of imagination, compassion, and the dissolving of edges. It is a mutable Water sign: feeling that flows and adapts to whatever it touches. Its opposite sign, Virgo, shows the contrast: where Virgo separates and refines the detail, Pisces merges and trusts the unspoken whole.

The Pisces personality is porousness. Pisces absorbs the moods around it, often mistaking other people’s feelings for its own. This makes it profoundly empathetic — and easily overwhelmed. It needs more solitude and protection than it usually admits.

Imagination runs deep, and so does compassion. Pisces is drawn to the arts, to the spiritual, to anything that lets the inner life flow outward. It sees the suffering in others and wants to soothe it.

Its challenge is boundaries and escape. Without firm edges, Pisces can lose itself in others, in illusions, or in ways of numbing what it feels. Learning to protect its own centre and to stay present rather than drift — that is the work of a mature Pisces.

In love, Pisces loves with a tenderness that can border on dissolving into the other. It is romantic, devoted, and idealising, and it can love the image of a person more than the person. What it needs is someone gentle and honest who gives it both closeness and a stable shore.

At work, Pisces flourishes where imagination and compassion matter — the arts, care, healing, anything that draws on the inner life. It struggles in harsh, purely transactional settings. Given meaning, it gives extraordinary depth.

In friendship, Pisces is the soft, intuitive friend who feels what you can’t say. Generous and forgiving, sometimes too much so — its kindness needs a boundary to keep from being drained.
